Introducing the German automaker’s ‘Neue Klasse’ series, **BMW has announced local pricing for the all-new iX3 electric SUV – the first of its own line up. ****
The iX3 will cost $109,900 before on-road costs when it is launched in one, dual-motor 50 xDrive trim grade and launch in an early next year battery and motor combinations to be available at the time of its arrival on Australian soil.
As such, it undercuts direct rivals including the Audi Q6 e-tron quattro, Porsche Macan 4, Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor, and Genesis Electrified GV70, all of which are priced between $120,000-140,000 before on-road costs. The heavily discounted Cadillac Lyriq remains the cheapest of the bunch, though.
The new-generation iX3 is also just $5000 dearer than the outgoing model was in top, single-motor specification.

In the years that are arguably BMW’s most important model, the new iX3 is an evolution of cars which represent significant innovations in technology, design and production processes.
The iX3 ‘Neue Klasse’ is an all-generation version of the newest, and most recent versions of this model features BMW’S sixth-gen eDrive technology which provides more power, greater efficiency and range as well as a higher charging rate.
Stylish BMW’s mid-sized electric SUV has a dual-motor electric powertrain good for 345kW and 646Nm in 50 xDrive form with 108kWh battery.
Also, the new model says it will be 805km of WLTP-tested driving range – the most of any new car in Australia on sale. The DC fast-charging at up to 400kW can be supported by an 800V electrical system, such as an 1800V.
BMW calls it The Heart of Joy, one of the four high-performance computers iX3’s four ‘superbrains’ computer processors that manage drivetrain and driving dynamics management. According to BMW, it processes information up to 10 times faster than conventional control units.
The interior is a dramatic departure from existing BMWs, debuting BMW Panoramic iDrive and a minimalist design language.

The control centre of the iX3 is a large 17.9-inch infotainment touchscreen running BMW Operating System X.
Despite the fact that prospective buyers will only be able to buy the 50 xDrive from launch, an entry-level, rear-wheel drive iX3 40 is expected to arrive next year and probably followed by another sportier model known as the eX3, M60.
A full-fat, quad-motor iX3 M is also reportedly in the works, although its launch timing is unclear.
