Skoda teases Kodiaq-sized EV to be revealed later this year

Skoda has rung in 2026 by teasing an “Epiq new year”, and confirming the reveals of two all-new electric SUVs.

The new video, which will be released this year, was presented to the Czech brand’s media site today by CEO Klaus Zellmer as it revealed the two cars under wraps.

The first is the production version of the Skoda Epiq, a compact electric crossover roughly the same size as the existing Kamiq.

In Munich, the Epiq is a near-production model of last September’s close-up version (reduced in near production form) with the Czech brand’S new ‘Modern Solid’ design language and has been recommended by Skoda to provide price parity (at least in Europe) using the Kamiq.

It will provide a 4-75-litre boot for the Epiq, more than the Kamiq’s 400L – and an electric driving range of 425km (WLTP), but Skoda did not disclose any other details about powertrain.

No official details of the powertrain have been released, but it is understood that the Epiq will be based on the same MEB+ affordable electric vehicle (EV) architecture as the next Volkswagen ID. The same way as the sized Kamiq rides on MQB A0 underpinnings shared with the Volkswagen Polo, is Polo and Cupra Raval.

This is the scope for three types of electric motors – 85kW, 99kW and 155kW – with 37kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs and 52kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NCM) batteries.

The Skoda Epiq, whose ID is the first to be on the market at its top, could prove a technology platform for the brand. The “significantly improved” Travel Assist feature will be introduced by Polo, which could ‘allow for assisted longitudinal guidance and assisted lane shifts on motorways,” as well as traffic light and stop sign recognition – although this may initially be reserved for the VW.

If the Epiq is being produced in mid-2026, more will be revealed but we already know that Skoda Australia will release it here – just not when and yet.

Mr Zellmer confirmed that following the Epiq’s debut Skoda will reveal a “brand new seven-seater for families and everyday explorers”.

Set to be the production version of the Vision 7S concept first shown in 2022, the large electric SUV will be Skoda’s new flagship and the battery-powered companion to the existing Kodiaq.

No one is much aware of the new model, which has been named-yet-unnamed but we know it’ll have three rows of seating and according to teaser images an exterior design very similar to concept car’s interior.

Expect it to also ride on a stretched version of the MEB platform that underpins the smaller Elroq and Enyaq, as well as the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, and ID. Buzz.

The new EVs will help the brand’s electrification portfolio, which offers “freedom of choice” (highly efficient combustion models), mild and plug-in hybrids, Mr Zellmer said in the video.

Speaking of mild-hybrids, 2026 will see Skoda Australia finally introduce its latest and most efficient 1.5 eTSI petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology, beginning with the Octavia liftback and wagon, as well as the Kodiaq SUV.

In the European market, as with the 1 ,. 5 eTSI (or mHEV) generates 110kW/250Nm as the outgoing 1 is produced. It is 4 TSI turbo-petrol engine, but drops combined fuel use in the car from 6 to Octavia. 1-1) 1-6 1L/100km to 5 – 2L? 1-5. A gap that will only increase in largely urban conditions, but is still 2L/100km – a phraser who has been paraphrased.

The 1 in the larger Kodiaq is a . The old 2 eTSI is replaced by 5 . In the base Select trim level, 0 TSI 4×4 drivetrain drops from 140kW/320Nm to 110kW or 250NM and loses drive to the rear axle but reduces combined fuel use significantly from 9 to 9. 1L/100km to 6. A of 0L/100km is. There will also be the Kodiaq mHEV Select with five-seat and seven-Seat cabins.

Moreover, Skoda will add its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models this year to the Kodiaq and Superb flagships of their local arm in addition to it’s 150kW variant of the VW Group’S 1 “P” version. A 5L turbocharged PHEV system, which already has the Cupra Leon Sportstourer and Terramar in Australia (albeit in higher-output 200kW guise), will also be introduced this year to the Volkswagen Tiguan and Tayron systems.

In addition to the added authority above 1 – . With its large 20kWh (net) battery back, the PHEV’s 5L engine with mild-hybrid tech offers more than 100km of EV driving range regardless to model.

During last year Skoda sales fell by 4-4 in the sale of their last season. The volume of key model lines such as the Octavia, Kaminq and KaroQ has been reduced to 1 per cent in Australia because it is less than one percent.

The Kodiaq arrived in new-generation form locally in April and became the brand’s best-seller (1255 units) after completing annual sales growth of 5 million (a.k.a). 9 per cent.

Enyaq EV range and Superb large car posted smaller wins, with 695 growth of small win. Paraphrasing 8 per cent (to 382 units) and 30 per. 1 per cent (to 199 units) respectively, but off low bases), .

But with the launch of expected versions of popular models, and further expansion of its EV range, Skoda no doubt hopes that continued solid growth Down Under in 2026 and beyond.
