The Ford Ranger Super Duty ute lineup is here, with multiple body styles and a big step up in capacity and capability for the best ute in the segment.

Despite some extreme price tags that might put potential buyers off, it is expensive but for those who need huge towing capacity and massive payload usability.

This is a real-world review of the Ranger Super Duty Double Cab Chassis. Read on to know more about it’s like to live with this .

How much does the Ford Ranger Super Duty cost?

If you were to choose a ‘Non-Super Duty’… or, I guess, ‘Regular Duty– Ranger’ and that would be more appropriate so long as you can work within the parameters of the non-super duty models.

What is the Ford Ranger Super Duty like on the inside?

It’s a way Let’s put it. If you like the finer things in life, then wait until the XLT model comes mid-2026.

That’s because the standard Super Duty has a work-oriented interior with rubber flooring (but no standard floor mats), and manually adjustable seats with cloth trim, so you might wonder whether the money is worth it for the experience you’re getting.

In contrast, the XLT model will add heated and ventilated front seats with electric adjustment and, in some cases (believe it or not) carpet on floor.

Despite the fact that there is no height-adjustable seatbelts, it’n’t ideal for to be comfortable and supportably adjusted seats themselves. Overhead There are vanity mirrors in the sun visors, but they’re not lit up.

This entry-level variant still has niceties like pop-out cups at the outboard edges of the dashboard (typically reserved for high-end regular Rangers), and there are good cupholders between the seats, a wireless phone charger and storage section in front of shifter, sizeable centre console bin and large holsters for bottles in the doors.

Moreover, in addition to the Super Duty is equipped with six auxiliary overhead switches for more systems such as lights, which leans into the ‘build it for what you need’ mindset.

But there’s a glovebox, an open shelf with – and – dash-top storage box in front of the passenger. Tested here, the vehicle had a device rail fitted for workers with tablet displays that need to be holstered in place.

A standard 12 is a . A 10-inch portrait touchscreen display is compared to the lower regular Rangers, where s are displayed on 0-in-inch displays (a 10- inch) screen. 1-inch Touch Panel Paraphrasing 1 inch touch panel. Including the satellite-equipped, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as digital radio (DAB+) are also included.

I didn’t have any problem with the connectivity on test, and beyond the smartphone mirroring tech there are no hard-to-get hang of menus in the screen. There are a few handy additions such as the OnBoard Scale system that tell you how close to your payload limit of Super Duty models is it.

You can also set up other trailers as favourites, and if you need it there’s an automated blinker and brake lights check system for you.

It is much easier to live with the Ranger than some of those utes in which you have to do more through the touchscreen, because it’s an easy bank of buttons for climate control and fan settings below the screen. And yes, I’m referring to the Volkswagen Amarok related car (for instance).

The quota of high-spec Rangers is 12 per cent. A 3-inch digital instrument display is a substitute for the Super Duty, which has the same 8 on its own. Part-digital unit 0-inch, as seen in the cheaper models of this model, is . It is a very easy learning process, though, as it has simple controls for the trip computer and other settings and displays on the steering wheel.

Because it has the same body and interior as other Rangers, there is no change in family- or workmate friendly practicality of the dual-cab models because this.

The driver’s seat was for my driving position (I’m 182cme/ 6-foot tall), so I had enough space in back to be comfortable. While Knee-room is fine, there’s also a good foot, head and shoulder room. It’s going to be tight for three big adults across the back, but two grown-ups are easy.
For example, there is a pair of top-tether points for child seats behind the seat–better than those utes that continue with the single centrally-mounted ‘tethered’ tense loop – and ISOFIX points in the window seats, too.

Between the back seats is an armrest with cupholders, not to mention map pockets on the seatbacks; decent door pockets; directional air vents and a 12-volt plug as well as 230-volt powerpoint (400W)).

A seat base has extra storage for if you need it; the seats are folded together, so that some of the other utes have split/folding bases which are slightly more practical.

But now I don’t use much for describing the tray, because there are dozens of possible configurations you can choose from – but this is very high to get up and into the area oftrays so shorties beware.

Because of the lift body on Super Duty, reaching up and into the tray zone – let alone trying to climb in! – is harder than you might think. The answers are fold-down step, but ensure you don’t go on the rear rail under tray which includes safety related radar and sensor systems.

There is a full-sized spare wheel under the tray.

What’s under the bonnet?

Only the Ranger’s V6 diesel engine is included in the Super Duty lineup, and it has been modified slightly compared to the other V6, Rangers. Like those models, it still has a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard; and ‘full-time 4-wheel drive system with AP4A mode that will provide torque to front or rear axles (or both) as required by on-road use. There is also 4H (high range) or 4L (low-range), of course, and a number of off-road features outside that beyond that.

The 154kW of power (alongside 600Nm torque) is down 30K from the standard Ranger V6’s 184kW but Ford has also updated its emissions system – it doesn’t have engine idle stop/start technology, although does provide AdBlue exhaust gas after-treatment.

Also, because it’s considered an N2 light commercial vehicle, it doesn’t have a official fuel consumption figure. On my test, which was purely about liveability and day-to driving (so no towing or off-roading) I got 13 back. It shows 5L/100km on the dash, I have to say that I wasn’t thrilled by that.

How does the Ford Ranger Super Duty drive?

Above, we didn’t plan to do an off-road review because if you have seen that done to death already, well. I’m just trying to explain how much it is actually going on to live with you, we just want to show you what that’s the real thing.

And the drive experience? I mean, of course – it’s really good.

This – the extra capability, practicality and hardcoreness that’s been added to this ‘the regular Ranger’ is excellent already.’ I was impressed by how much of an impression it has made me feel about the quality (and even more) in my opinion on what they say as well as being so good at doing something like these before?

Sure, there are some fines for the extra body stiffness (not to mention the additional weight on this model of the Ranger), but it is still so liveable and likeable in terms of drive experience.

The engine doesn’t necessarily feel like it’s 30kW down on the regular V6 Rangers in normal, daily driving.

Whenever you put your foot down there’s still lots of grunt when you do it – with 600Nm, you got the urge. So even though it is several hundred kilograms heavier than a normal, more powerful V6 Ranger, the powertrain of this model is certainly not disappointing.

The 10-speed auto is pretty well-mannered and measured in terms of how it behaves, according to the way that it works. If you really want to drive it in manual mode, then that’s good logic for the gear changes.

I think it’s really one of the most powerful powertrains in the segment for drivability. What is a really strong ute to drive, and I think that it’s not so much… but this certainly has been the very powerful powertrain for ? Reliability?

The planted feeling of the ride is another factor that makes it stronger than other Rangers. It’s obviously a wider track width, so it’ll be more sold on the surface and those General Grabber tyres are grippier than some other all-terrains out there.

It’s a bigger footprint and it feels like very, very strong on the road surface; with the permanent four-wheel drive system helping largely in that regard especially when what’ is below the rubber is wet or loose.

Honestly, I enjoyed it in day to day driving (although that is such a beast of. It is just so easy to drive and that it’s very easy for .

The ride is certainly stiffer feeling than other Rangers, which are supple and actually SUV-like in a lot of ways.

This feels more like a hardcore work truck – but still nowhere near as firm as some of other rivals in the segment, especially the work-focused ones like the Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series. The Ranger Super Duty’s ride is firm, but still polished.

The Ranger has been a genius in the Super Duty series and it is another experience there’s more weight than its steering, but still very easy to control; urban-friendly for this size of what it does with ability that it provides. That’s not intimidating to drive like some other larger dual-cabs in the segment, such as . And I think even for the uninitiated dual-cab driver, it will be pretty easy to get along with.

bing-bong chimes, the safety tech doesn’t have any annoying . Despite the fact that there is a speed sign recognition system, it doesn’t beep at you to say when they think you’re going faster or because I’m seeing. The easy-to–turn-off lane-keeping help makes it easy to get used to, too, and the ‘s ease of adaptation.

Four-wheel disc brakes are also available so it feels like pulling up strongly, as does . And because it is so hard, but that’s a lot of weight to contend with, I would highly recommend you don’t just think it’s going to be like – and will act like normal Ranger.

Is the Ford Ranger Super Duty safe?

A test of 2022 testing has the highest five-star ANCAP safety rating for the current-generation Ford Ranger. The Super Duty has not been categorized as a five-star ANCAP car, but fleet customers and business buyers who need ‘the best safety rating’ will be comforted by knowing that it is loaded with safety tech and gear.
