2026 Mazda CX-5 priced for Australia

Australian pricing and initial specifications for the new-generation 2026 Mazda CX-5 have been announced, and the all-new mid-size SUV range is now available to order ahead of its arrival in mid-2026.

The nameplate’s launch of the CX-5 over a decade ago has sold more than 325,000 examples in Australia since its introduction to over five million worldwide – and the model is the top-seller for the Japanese brand during the last seven years running. That’s obviously a very, really important product for Mazda because it’s incredibly important to so.

The new lineup of CX-5 says it is “hard on value” for 2026, a statement that the new line-up of s will be hard. Although price is a technical high, specification levels are also up across the range (with petrol power and all-wheel drive standard throughout the entire range from launch to all wheel drive) while prices are technically up.

This version of the naming scheme, which is also in line with that of most of Mazda range and five trim levels will be available for the third-generation CX-5 as it has been known to outgoing range.

Pricing starts at $39,990 plus on-road costs for the entry level CX-5 Pure (a few thousand up on the outgoing Cx-5 G20 Maxx’s $37,999 drive-away pricing offer), with flagship Akera priced from $54,990+ ORCs.

The Mazda CX-5 will launch with one powertrain – the ‘G25’ 2 – as it has been confirmed. The petrol engine, which is a 5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (132kW) and 242Nm), was driven by all four wheels via six-speed automatic as standard.

While pressure from the federal government’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) designed to reduce CO2 emissions is mounting, 7 AWD quotes fuel use of CX-5 G25. The combined cycle is 4L/100km, with CO2 emissions of 173g/km. As for the case of Type 1 passenger vehicles under the NVES, there’s an estimated 110g/km cap in 2026 (for example).

Earlier in 2027, Mazda Australia confirmed the launch of a new CX-5 Hybrid which is to be launched alongside the brand’s new ‘Skyactiv-Z’ petrol engine with dozens more technologies designed for performance and efficiency.
