2026 Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro review: Quick drive

childcareman.xyz brings reviews, research tools and trusted buying support together, guiding you from research to delivery with confidence.

If the 1997 Jack Nicholson film As Good as It Gets was made today, it would have to star the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro.

The ‘Pro’ is the new benchmark for Mercedes-AMG performance cars – the most powerful, capable version of the C192-series GT63 coupe yet – designed to pants the Porsche 911 GT3 and the McLaren Artura where it counts: on track.

There will also be countless heads on Chapel Street in Melbourne or Bondi’s Campbell Parade in Sydney, but the changes aren’t just superficial and precisely measured to deliver real point-to-point gains.

A no-fuss body that looks like business, the Pro ekes more power and torque from the GT63 coupe’s sonorous twin-turbo V8 engine (in a chassis we already know is supremely capable), wrapped in.

It’s a fast way to go faster than just in straddling straight lines, but around corners and with aerodynamic upgrades such as new underbody parts it is an actual aero car – more downforce means you can get faster at corners.

A carryover all-wheel drive and rear- wheel steering, as well a small 23kg weight loss (known in the biz as ‘journalist’ lunch’) to further improve its skills.

On the outside, Pro features a newer front bumper with larger air intakes, black six-piston brake calipers for the standard carbon-ceramic rotors and an unpainted carbon front splitter (unpainted), mirror caps, side sills or rear diffuser.

Its relatively small changes to its on-paper reprinting are placed in an already strong donor car, and while they may not sound like much but promise a better-honed, top-drawer level of talent.

In some respects, The Pro is also an endangered species a V8 petrol engine has no electrical assistance; you won’t see if there is equivalant badge on its curvaceous rump.

It’s the elite level of an automotive age apparently on the way out, and is a super-coupe like the GT63 Pro. Certainly the swannong for the classic German brute-force recipe, as there are hybrid versions of the four-door GT that have already been in showrooms.

It’s a recipe worth writing down though, because the GT63 Pro seriously cooks…

How much does the Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro cost?

It’s a significant increase over the $370,400 plus ORCs price of the regular — slightly less powerful AMG GT63 coupe-style Coupe (offered in coupe–only body style) and $418,900 before on-road prices are taken to justify its full title.

| Model | Price before on-road costs |
| — | — |
| 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT63 4Matic+ Coupe | $370,400 |
| 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro 4Matic+ Coupe | $418,900 |

The technical upgrades and higher engine outputs are not just the outlay, but for the extra cost you get the AMG Carbon Package and Ag Performance Seat package that add about $5000 to the standard model’s price, as well as standard ceramic brakes which are $10,000 additional for buyers of the regular GT63 coupe. Michelin Cup 2R semi-slick tyres are also free, meaning Pro’s track focus is on.

The AMG’s list price is similar to that of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS ($412,300 before on-roads), but less than the car it’s truly gunning for – the 911 GT3 (from $449,100 plus ORCs). Also in the same price bracket are the McLaren Artura at $422,560 plus ORCs, and the Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo at $450,000 plus ORCs.

It’s worth noting that the AMG is the only V8 of this group of sexy sports cars in what some might say it’ll be, and at that point there’a a cracking V8, which I think will make me laugh.

What is the Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro like on the inside?

There is no surprises here The Pro has the full go-fast treatment inside – which sits on the standard GT63’s already-special cabin with the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package that extends to the interior.

Nevertheless, the most important bits (though not necessarily) are the standard AMG Performance front seats which provide larger bolsters to hold you when cornering is covered in Nappa leather and microfibre; as is the AMF Performance steering wheel.

Like the 911, they’re part of a 2+2-seat layout with the front row roomy enough for taller drivers and good vision front and rear. Closer back seats for small children, low-ranking mates or luggage are more of an occasional place to sit in the tight back seat (or ).

It’s a sense of airiness, as it is known to purists may deride) with the standard panoramic sunroof (which illuminates the cockpit’s smart silver and black colour combination, high quality materials and first-class fit and finish). Other notable features include the turbine-style air vents and stitched leather console and door tops – according to the regular GT63.

The head is black, too – for the Pro it’s a choice you can make on the regular model at no extra cost – matching the piano black finish in the console (surely if police fingerprint experts) which leads to the 11th. The centre-based infotainment touchscreen is a 9 inch portrait-oriented infotagaINMENT touchscreen that has been designed to be the latest in its history.

This multimedia screen shows the entire spectrum of driving technology – from AMG lap timers to settings for engine and brakes – and your choices are expressed in the 12 models. Head up display and 3-inch digital instrument cluster with head-up display.

Boot space? We didn’t look – that’s not the business-end of an AMG GT…

| Length | 4728mm |
| Width | 1984mm |
| Height | 1354mm |

What’s under the bonnet?

That long bonnet houses what the GT63 Pro is all about: a cracking 4.0-litre (3982cc) twin-turbo petrol V8 codenamed M177.

| Specifications | Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro 4Matic+ Coupe |
| — | — |
| Engine | 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo |

| Torque | 850Nm @ 2350-5000rpm |
| Transmission | 9-speed multi-clutch automatic |
| Drive type | Variable all-wheel drive |
| Weight | 1901kg |
| 0-100km/h (claimed) | 3.2 seconds |
| Fuel economy (claimed) | 15.0L/100km |
| Fuel tank capacity | 70L |
| Fuel requirement | 98-octane premium unleaded |
| CO2 emissions | 342g/km |

No electrification, no mild-hybrid marketing garb and no attempt to greenwash the intent of the Pro is “to go as fast as possible in the most entertaining way it knows how to do so.”

This is the Pro’s V8 which produces 20kW more power than the standard GT63 with an aggressive 450KW spread across a wider rev range of 5500–6500rpm.

Also, it has 50Nm more peak torque, delivering a solid 850NM that is 150rpm faster and 500rPM longer; now at 2350-5000ram.

A. twin-scroll turbocharger, which has been designed in a ‘hot-vee’ style of aluminium V8, is mounted within the 90-degree (90-speed torque-converter automatic) and sends its thunder through – via nine- speed torque to all four wheels with an eight-point power-off system that drives it into being at rest.

Besides the front wheel-arches, there are additional radiators behind the Pro’ for more cooling (the Pro is much longer lasting when it comes to long on-track work).

Paraphrasing 3 0-100km/h claim of . This is equivalent to 2 seconds for the standard GT 63, although it says that the Pro has reached 200km/h half a second earlier (just 10 minutes). It took 9 seconds to smash the double-tonne for a , who has never been in contact with him. Will it keep going to 317km/h, 2 km/H faster than the normal car?

His 15-year official 15 was officially issued on the pragmatic front. Average fuel consumption of 9L/100km is 0. This is a concern, and 4L/100km worse but again look elsewhere. Perhaps a Mercedes-Benz bus?

This car is properly quick. And that engine note… is there a better-sounding car on sale in 2026? No.

How does the Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro drive?

This is a master of flattery The GT63 Pro is so quick but you have to work with it to get the most from every lap.

The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit was our test — a high-speed mecca with mostly flowing corners and stunning views. The ringing winds and heart-in-mouth layout of the GT63 Pro’s cornering gains are perfect for hosting the first Australian Grand Prix in 1928, which sits on the edge of Bass Straight.

Slip into the sports seats and the firmness of the seatback is immediately apparent, pushing against your back as you dial in the perfect driving position; there are no compromises on where to sit or steering column location.

Controls on AMG Dynamics’ steering wheels allow you to switch between softer and firmer suspension, lighter or firmier steering, slower or faster gearshifts (and lower or higher stability control intervention) with the controls available.

When we get to know the car and the circuit conditions, we leave it in a relatively safe mode of starting and let nine-speed auto do the shifting as we learn about the vehicle and its condition.

With that set, we’re essentially in what feels like the cockpit of a fighter jet waiting to take off – about learning how good is the GT63 Pro.

The Pro goes from sleep to sprint with one modest mash of the loud pedal as we run down the main straight. No wheelspin, no nose lift and no hesitation – it just storms to Bass Straight.

The 4. Its creaminess building an inescapable bass line is the recipe for sound, vision and focus of this 450kW coupe which transforms from smooth idle to bellowing roar in one instant.

A good visibility at speed, a large steering wheel and the firm but well-fitted sports seats provide precise information about what’s going on underneath.

It’s easy to drive at six or seven 10ths, and the 4728mm-long, 1984mm-wide GT63 Pro doesn’t feel cumbersome.

The weight loss of 23kg is not particularly noticeable in the context of its 1901kg kerb weight, but AMG remains confident, responsive and willing.

The V8 is velvet-gloved, a punch that has been built to brutal speed without shockwaves of torque and does not deliver any shock waves of force. This layer of it is layered on smooth, rich seams of pulling power, reeling off gear changes to the 7500rpm redline. The Pro feels like it has more legs than the regular GT63, with a wider torque spread that is noticeably deeper even in’straight line’.

But the aero tweaks, Mercedes-AMG says it is a pro 30kg less front-axle lift and an additional 15kg of rear downforce that helps keep nose and tail planted even during one tough test on the brilliant; while six-pot 420mm ceramic brakes are being used to ensure they remain in place.

Turn-in is accurate, the 295mm front and 305mm rear tyres are extremely gripping, while the rear-wheel steering makes rapid changes of direction on command without undermining straight-line stability (allowing earlier than expected doses of full throttle out of corners).

The more you push, the better it responds to a . Even in high winds over Lukey Heights, the GT63 Pro remained calm even when it hit 280km/h on the main straight and appeared completely unfazed.

It never felt remotely out of its depth after several increasingly fast laps, and was unable to feel far away from its deepest. A grip on the road-spec Michelin tyres fitted to our car eventually began taper, but it was not so much that the chassis kept calm; this is the rubber which comes first and the free Cup ties are required for serious circuit work.

It was a clear, in the end-of-the-day GT63 Pro is one of the best and funniest street-legal race cars that money can buy.

childcareman.xyz’s Take on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro

If there is another GT63 Black Series coming – and Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed that there exists a. worldly equivalent of the Pro’s ability to crush time and space, it will have to be otherworldly as this pro can crush on both time or space.

It’s a stunning V8 engine that is yet to succumb to electrification, and the Pro takes the already impressive GT63 which mixes serious road presence with genuine racing pedigree — perhaps the peak of German petrol power.

In motorsport, there’s a reason Mercedes-AMG wins and we don’t say Formula 1 here. It has won the world’s most sports car racing championships, including its third Bathurst 12 Hour win in 2026 and a total of over 2,000 wins for the GT.

The Pro’s upgrades are hard to evaluate, but the changes make this car even better on a racetrack and its ‘Pro’ name absolutely spot-on.

It’s a relatively practical coupe that mixes elegance and status with the ability to cosset you in slow-speed comfort, entertain you as if you are pursuing grand tourerhood; monster is rated – without ever feeling like it’s trying to stop you. This is an all-supercar, with a sledgehammer V8 that’s unmatched by its closest rival.

Whatever you’re after, the GT63 Pro is all-in – and it delivers with utter, unshakable ability.
