2026 Nissan Navara to cost up to $6000 more than its Mitsubishi Triton twin

The all-new 2026 Nissan Navara has been priced from $53,348 before on-road costs – $2620 more than the equivalent version of the outgoing model, and higher than the Mitsubishi Triton on which it’s based – ahead of first customer deliveries from March 1, 2026.

During an important push upmarket, the new-generation Navara will be available in just four model grades – all of them dual-cab 44 automatic pickups with an average price hike of $2943 and a Pro-4X off-road flagship that is $5865 more expensive than before.

The SL, which is currently on sale for $44,990 drive-away in runout, will cost $53,348 plus on-roads (up to $50,728 plus ORCs for the previous LS dual-cab 44 automatic) and its entry-level 2026 Navara SEL.

Similarly, this is the cheapest new Navara (with a list price of $51,440 plus ORCs) as it compares with the equivalent Mitsubishi Triton GLX 44 auto which has an offer-away deal on 2025 stock with discounts of up to $3000.

For further comparison, the most affordable dual-cab 4×4 auto pickup version of the market-leading Ford Ranger – the XL with a lower-spec 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine – is priced at $51,400 plus ORCs in MY26.5 guise.

The new ST is going to cost $56,765 (up from $55,833), the ST-X $63,177 (previous $60,823 with leather trim), and the Pro-4X$68,148 (down from $62,283) – all prices are off on-road costs (see table below)

A replacement for the hardcore, locally developed Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior has yet to be revealed or priced.

Despite the fact that it was an original model, Navara’s new-generation is based on current Triton introduced locally in 2023; the two Japanese automakers seek cost efficiency for their industrial alliance with Renault.

As a consequence, the 2026 Navara shares its ladder-frame platform, diesel powertrain and all other major components with the Triton (including its 150kW/470Nm 2). Four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, six-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system are 4-litres of the ‘non-regular’ 4-litre four wheel car.

Both dual-cab 4×4 auto vehicles have the same combined fuel-consumption claim of 7.7L/100km.

Despite the fact that it is more than a mildly-restyled Mitsubishi, Nissan Australia says the new-generation Navara has been described as “more than an older warranty and higher standard equipment levels”, which it assigned dollar values to in part of its effort towards justifying the price hike.

And if there is a Warrior range-topper to be, the Navara’s four-grade dual-cab 44 auto-only lineup of 4-4, however, is narrower than the Triton line.

The Triton is available in five trim levels and comes in single-, extended- and double-cab body styles with manual and automatic transmissions as well two wheel drive options (two- & four-wheel drive) from Mitsubishi.

Nissan Australia says the extra-value for entry level SL, which includes $1300 of additional value (a rear differential lock), LED headlights and tail-light lamps, velour seat trim, digital radio (DAB+) and Tailgate assist are other equipment.

Nissan also points to another key difference that it says sets the Navara apart from its rivals, with every model employing a unique suspension tune calibrated for local roads by Melbourne-based engineering firm Premcar – the company responsible for the hard-core Navara Warrior and Patrol Warrior.

The Navara ST has a claimed $1330 value advantage over its Triton equivalent, with LED headlights and tail-lighting lamps, heated and electrically retractable body-coloured door mirrors, leather-accented seat trim, carpet flooring, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror (and tailgate assist).

Nissan says a standard sports bar and tailgate assist are valued at $1100 for the ST-X, while on the Pro-4X’standard towbar is worth $1200.

Navara has the benchmark 3500kg braked towing capacity and ground clearance of 228mm – similar to Triton – but slightly higher payload than 1094kg, as opposed to the 10-83kg for the TriTon.

The warranty is also extended, with both brands offering 10 years aftersales coverage conditional on dealer service; Nissan offers coverage for up to 300,000km compared to Mitsubishi’s 200,000km distance limit.

Aside from the 10-year or 150,000km offer offered by Mitsubishi’s roadside assistance, And Nissan has a total of 10 years or 300,000km – again conditional on servicing with the brand.

Similarly, The Navara has its inaugural five services capted at $499 (slightly less than the Triton’s variable servicing costs), which average $527 per service over the first five visits – $2635 compared to $495 for the Na Varana.

Order books are now open, but first deliveries of the new Navara are officially scheduled for March 1, with stock arriving at some showrooms before that.
