Australias most recalled vehicles in 2025 revealed

In Australia in 2025, 380,350 cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles were recall; customers had to go back to the service department to repair myriad mechanical and software faults.

The 136 nationwide product safety recall notices issued last year ran the gamut from the tame (incorrect compliance labels in the Ford Mustang Mach-E) to the concerning (potential toxic gas leaks in Ford’s van lineup).

According to Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts, Ford issued the most recall notices in 2025 (26 in total) and also recalled the largest number of vehicles (110,362) according to the Department Of Infrastructure.

One recalls were a type of issue that led to the risk of causing an automobile fire across all brands, and 16 airbags included in 25 recall cases.

Although a few vehicles were the only ones affected by recalls, there were some large-scale recall incidents. A Toyota recall of 69,586 vehicles across seven model lines for an instrument cluster fault was made by the company’s next largest recalls were from Ford and both concerned about one problem with their reversing cameras.

One should note that sometimes multiple models can be grouped together into one recall notice, while at other times these may be separated into different recall notes.

The absence of a recall notice doesn’t necessarily mean the lack of an issue. Many ‘service campaigns’ have been aimed at solving issues which aren’t related to safety. A few firms might take a proactive approach, and some companies may be more proactive by recalling earlier rather than later.

Ford had the highest number of recall notices by far (26), with more than twice that of second-placed Mercedes-Benz (11).

Ram sat third with nine recalls, six of which were for airbag problems and two of these recall only one car per minute.

The recalls were Aston Martin, Bentley, Cadillac, Chery, Fiat, Honda, JAC, Jaguar, KGM and McLaren, MG (M), Mini, Mitsubishi, Smart and Subaru.
