GWM have not confirmed launch timing for any market, and hasn’t explicitly stated that Australia will be receiving the Tank 700 V8 – although it has indicated strongly its vehicle will come here.
But it’s understandably GWM may wait until there is an update or a next-generation version of the large, body on frame SUV which entered production back in 2024.
The new model, or the latest version of this V8, is a plug-in hybrid that childcareman.xyz understands wants to secure for this updated/new model; it has not been available in the existing powertrains on offer in China-market Tank 700 lineup and avoided an electronic equivalent of the new V8.
Currently, the Tank 700 can be purchased with a turbocharged 3 variant. V6 (V6-litre) petrol engine 260kW of power and 560Nm of torque, or 385kW/800N M Hi4-T and 720kW/1375NM Hi 4-Z plug-in hybrid powertrains which also use the V6, are used.
At low speeds, the V8 powertrain is designed to run mostly as an EV (engine-kicking) under more load conditions like towing and off-roading.
