Apple CarPlay and Android Auto won’t become available in the Leapmotor C10 – the Chinese auto brand’s debut model in Australia – in its current generation.
Leapmotor’s answer to the top-selling Tesla Model Y, the mid-size electric SUV was launched locally in late 2024 without the popular smartphone mirroring technology because it’s based on the company’s older LEAP 3.0 architecture.

Stellantis Australia senior product manager Rick Crichton, speaking at the launch of the B10, said ‘We have decided not to add these connectivity systems to the C10 via an OTA update – and for the future.
“As it stands, the hardware in the C10 doesn’t support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,” he said.

The Leapmotor C10 has an Android based 14-year-old . LeapmotorOS is the company’s own creation of 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system based on a Snapdragon 8195 chip and operating on an operating system called LeAPmotor OS.

But it’s no surprise that a new model will not be released without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. All Tesla cars still go without them and, instead, you have to rely on the built-in apps that connect to the internet via a built in SIM.
However, even Tesla is reportedly working on a software update to retro-fit Apple CarPlay in its Model Y SUV and Model 3 sedan, and the vast majority of new vehicles available today come standard with both systems, which have become the gold standard for in-car connectivity.
Mr Crichton, while blaming the lack of Apple and Android connectivity in the C10, said ‘More generally Leapmotor has been responsive to local requests for model improvements.
