The 2026 Chery Tiggo V has been revealed at the Beijing motor show, which hints a bold new direction for family SUVs and an emerging market leader in Australia’s (and New Zealand) auto markets.
Billed as a “one vehicle for all scenarios”, the Tiggo V blends large seven-seat SUV practicality with ute-like flexibility, thanks to a unique modular design. Like the Deepal E07, its standout feature is the ability to transform from a three-row SUV into a dual-cab ute-like layout.
A partition allows owners to create an open cargo area separated from the cabin by removing the rear canopy and third row of seating. As many as six configurations will be available, Chery says, including lifestyle-focused setups like a camper conversion or enclosed cargo module.

Designed squarely at buyers who want comfort and refinement of a family SUV for daily driving, this adaptability is targeted to the needs of larger loads when needed.
But expectations should be tempered, though, with s. A typical ladder-frame ute is more of a lifestyle alternative than’real workhorse,’ but the Tiggo V does not match payload or towing capabilities of traditional ladder frame uters.
The Tiggo V, unlike dual-cab staples like the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux, operates on a car-style monocoque platform that prioritizes on-road comfort and refinement over heavy-duty capability (although it does have ‘full-size spare wheel under the rear’ with independent coil-sprung rear suspension).
Despite its size, the Tiggo V is more than five metres long and has a 2800mm wheelbase. This makes it a little larger than the Chery Tiggo 9 large SUV, although shorter than most dual-cab utes, that’s still short.
Those buyers will be able to select between six- and seven-seat layouts inside, including a more premium 2+2+2-sate configuration with second-row captain’s chairs.
Chery’s new design language is the cabin, which features dual digital displays, physical shortcut controls and a focus on family-friendly amenities such as independent second-row seats with 380mm sliding adjustment and no more than 42 storage spaces.
This includes A fridge with a rear-mounted refrigerator, third row air vents and 360-degree camera system that has an ‘underfloor’ view to help with low speed manoeuvring.
Under the bonnet Chery will probably be able to provide a mix of petrol and electrified powertrains under the Bonnet. A 1 PHEV (CSH) plug-in hybrid is also used as a sixth-generation Chery Super Hybrid (CH) Plug-In Mixer (PHE). It was a 5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with electric motors and battery of about 90-100km (about 90–100 km) only driving for 5 L.
High-spec variants are likely to have total system outputs from around 160kW of power up to 260MW and as much as 330Nm of torque. a traditional 2 Some markets will also sell 0-litre turbo-petrol engine as well.
The PHEV version is claimed to offer average fuel consumption of 6.0L/100km, and the petrol-only variant will consume 7.84L/100km,
Despite its road-focused underpinnings, the Tiggo V says it has respectable off-road capabilities such as 220mm of ground clearance and a wading depth of up to 700mm for PHEV variants. Compared to hardcore off-roaders, that makes it closer to soft roaders than hard core off roads but should be enough for gravel tracks and other light off the road adventures.
Production is scheduled to begin in China later this year, though local availability for Australia and New Zealand remains unconfirmed.
The concept is a lifestyle-focused complement to its new ladder-frame dual-cab ute, which will be coming down Under in the fourth quarter of this year with plug-in hybrid diesel power and has been previously expressed by Chery’s local arm.
In the new car market, if it is in right-hand drive markets, the Tiggo V would be driving out a special space above the Tiggor 9, which was available here in one all-wheel drive PHEV variant at $59,990 before on-road costs.
