Cupra Australia has announced pricing and specifications for the updated Formentor SUV range ahead of the model’s local arrival this month.
A new ‘S’ variant at the bottom of the lineup, which is Headlining the updated range, will bring the Formentor’s starting price to $53,990 drive-away nationally — down from $56,490 drive away for the pre-update Formor V.
It has also replaced the existing V (VZe plug-in hybrid) and VZx variants, albeit with minor tweaks and price increases of around $5000 depending on the variant.
That gives the Formentor a total of five powertrains, including the flagship five-cylinder VZ5 that will arrive in Australia later this year.

Cupra Australia brand director Jerome Figuiere said ‘This new Formentor range is an evolution for one of the most iconic models that Cu Pra has ever had.
“With new drivetrains, a bold design language and significant upgrades inside and out, it showcases exactly where Cupra is heading.”
For the first time, Cupra’s small SUV is mated to a 1V mild-hybrid tech by the range-opening Formentor S, which introduces 48V light-hand technology to her newer car. Power 110kW of power from 5-litre engine, . A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is used in the S by .
Meanwhile, the new Formentor V (rebuilt for a refresher version) keeps its turbocharged 2 running. 0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (although with an increased power output of 150kW) up from 140kW, . It still uses a seven-speed dual clutch auto and has all-wheel drive.
This is the biggest upgrade but it’s been applied to the Formentor VZe PHEV, which now offers Cupra its second-generation PFEV technology. That gives it a power source of up to 200kW (180kW), DC fast-charging capability and ‘almost doubled’ battery capacity.
Cupra says that gives it an electric-only driving range of “100km+”, a drastic improvement over the outgoing VZe’s 58km claim.
It has also been neglected either by the performance-oriented VZx, which is now 245kW of power (up to 17kWh) on its predecessor. A torque-vectoring rear differential is now part of its all-wheel drive system, which has been described as “more agile, more intuitive and more spirited in all conditions.”
At the very top of the range is the more exclusive Formentor VZ5, which is powered by a 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine producing 287kW. This powerplant is borrowed from Audi, where it’s employed in the RS3 and outgoing RSQ3.
Cupra’s ‘hark-nose’ front end with “distinctive” triangular daytime running lights has been placed outside the Formentor, matching the rest of the Spanish brand’.
Its redesigned rear end also now features an illuminated Cupra logo, while most variants get new alloy wheel designs.
cupra fitted a 12 inside, with paraphrasingr in. The 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and backlit climate and volume controls, as well as its ‘Supersport’ steering wheel with integrated start/stop and drive mode buttons are standard features of its own brand new technology.
A few more notable examples include Cupra’s ‘Dinamica’ upholstery on the S and V variants, powered front seat adjustment with position memory. Depending on the variant, Sennheiser premium audio is also available.
Additionally, Cupra has introduced its optional Extreme Package for the Formentor VZe ($6500) and VZx ($7000), previously only available on the refreshed Leon.
The Extreme Package features carbon-fibre back sports bucket seats, special upholstery, Akebono or Brembo performance brakes for the VZx and VVe respectively, matrix LED headlights (and dark gloss interior accents instead of copper) and a variety of other components.
The new Formentor range will be available in Australian showrooms in April 2026, before customer deliveries start in late May. A December 2026–March 2027 delivery of the flagship VZ5 is expected.
