The sleek, redesigned storage bin lid doubles as a comfortable armrest, creating a seamless and sophisticated look.

Beneath the expansive touchscreen, a masterclass in minimalist console design unfolds. Crucially, this sleek maturity doesn’t sacrifice functionality; the essential air vents remain uncompromised, and a tactile row of physical buttons provides immediate command over climate control, demister, and camera functions.

Meet Coffee OS, GWM’s freshly brewed operating system, now in its third, most potent generation. Engineered in-house, this OS doesn’t just run; it anticipates. Experience lightning-fast responsiveness and a personalized digital cockpit, molded precisely to your driving style.
Paired seamlessly with the futuristic two-spoke steering wheel, the multimedia screen immediately impresses. Even after only a brief encounter, its design pops, the layout is intuitive, the responsiveness is lightning-fast, and overall usability shines.
Voice-activated AI in Coffee OS hints at hands-free control, a feature we haven’t fully road-tested yet. However, navigating its core functions proved surprisingly intuitive, even during a hectic day jumping between vehicles – promising ease of use on the go.
Behind the redesigned steering wheel, the familiar 10.25-inch instrument cluster from earlier H6 models greets the driver. But the real star of the Ultra trim is the crystal-clear head-up display (HUD), projecting vital driving information directly into your line of sight.

Sink into serenity with the Ultra PHEV’s sanctuary of premium features. Rear privacy glass offers a secluded escape, while heated and ventilated front seats deliver personalized climate control. Embrace cozy warmth with steering wheel heating, and immerse yourself in rich, crystal-clear sound from the nine-speaker audio system, transforming every drive into an auditory delight.
The cabin largely mirrors its H6 siblings, presenting a generally pleasing atmosphere of quality. However, our test drives revealed a few discordant notes – particularly in the black interiors, where some surfaces exhibited unwelcome scratchiness and hints of wear.
Sink into the second row, where a flexible 60/40-split seat easily folds to swallow cargo. Passengers will enjoy a comfy ride with a central armrest, cupholders for their drinks, a selection of USB ports to keep gadgets charged, and dedicated air vents, delivering personalized climate control.
Sacrificing some boot space for its plug-in capabilities, the H6 PHEV offers 560 litres of cargo room with the rear seats up, expanding to 1445 litres when folded down. While still practical, this represents a reduction compared to its petrol and hybrid siblings.
Stepping inside is like entering a different class altogether. Gone is the old H6’s interior, replaced by a cabin that whispers quality, invites interaction, and presents a polished, sophisticated experience.

He’s the maestro tasked with tuning GWM models to not just survive, but thrive, on our notoriously awful roads. Think bone-jarring potholes and crumbling tarmac are a challenge? Trubiani’s making sure GWMs laugh in their face – and are ready for your weekend bush bashes, too.
We experienced Trubiani’s automotive artistry firsthand during our inaugural drive. The very models he’s meticulously tuned are slated for production in November, paving the way for their grand debut in Australian showrooms this December.
Slipping into the PHEV, the driver’s seat felt instantly welcoming, like a favorite armchair molded for the road. We nudged the gear selector and chose ‘EV Priority’ – essentially, unleashing the electric heart of the machine first. Under electric power, it moves with an almost silent grace.
Our EV mode explorations were tantalizingly brief, leaving us data-starved. A proper range and energy consumption deep-dive will have to wait for a more extensive seven-day trial.

The powertrain purrs like a contented cat, unleashing a surprising burst of speed on demand. Transitioning between electric serenity and petrol power is so seamless, you’ll barely notice the switch – a testament to its refined engineering.
However, reserve judgment. Until we unleash this beast beyond the controlled confines of a test track and into the chaotic ballet of rush hour or the open highway, the true smoothness of its two-speed transmission remains a tantalizing mystery.
Effortlessly navigate with its intuitive controls, while the customizable "favourite" switch on the steering wheel a feature borrowed from its siblings proved indispensable for on-the-fly driving mode adjustments.
Our journey began in Normal, the heart of our driving experience. But the real fun started as we delved into the steering settings, commencing with the feather-light touch of ‘Light’ mode.

Trubiani’s local chassis tuning touches everything from steering to suspension. Out on rugged country roads, the H6 PHEV shrugged off bumps like a seasoned boxer, absorbing even the nastiest potholes with surprising ease.
The steering translates the road’s texture directly to your fingertips, a subtle conversation rather than a shout. Mid-corner imperfections? The H6 shrugs them off, maintaining composure whether carving through mountain passes or cruising on the open highway. It’s a dance of predictability, a partnership between driver and machine.
The steering, once a potential weak point, now sings with confidence. The ‘Light’ mode, surprisingly, doesn’t feel like a flimsy afterthought. Instead, it’s remarkably communicative, offering a reassuring weight that builds trust whether you’re threading through a tight parking lot or carving through winding roads at speed.
Forget numb, over-assisted steering. This isn’t some parking-lot placebo, a band-aid fix for a steering wheel that feels like wrestling a gorilla. This is a legitimate driving mode, a tangible connection to the road that begs to be explored.

Crank the dial to "Sport," and the steering tightens like a coiled spring, transforming every minute adjustment into an immediate reaction. The road sharpens, responds. Fear not, gym-phobes: this isn’t arm-wrestling a grizzly. It’s finely tuned precision, a conversation between you and the asphalt, offering clear feedback without demanding Herculean effort.
