Nissan has made a statement of its intent in Japan, showcasing the next-generation X-Trail mid-size SUV and Juke light SUV, and confirming a new Xterra off-road SUV and a reborn Skyline sports car.
In the launch of the two new SUV models, Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa was clear that “the business needs to be sensible as it moves forward in its strategy” approach.
“We must be honest about where Nissan stands today,” he said. “Our portfolio aged faster than the market.”
This is one of ‘right-sizing’ ways that Nissan clearly does on a global scale, as it has done for the world. Brand The brand confirmed it will cull model lines and has re-launched its presence to profitable industries only by adding upmarkets in the name of “the most successful” sectors.

“[Nissan will determine] where to lead, where to partner, and where to stop,” said Mr Espinosa.
“We will streamline our model range from 56 to 45 models, exiting low-performing products and focusing on growth,” he said.
Nevertheless, the Nissan boss confirmed that the Japanese automaker will revive model ranges like the Xterra SUV in the US market with body-on-frame construction and a V6 petrol-electric hybrid engine from partnered partnership.
His statement was that he’ll be ‘a new-generation Skyline’ with its hot–plate style tail-lights teased to the media, but little has been revealed about the model other than saying it will fall under the “Heartbeat Model” category for the business.
Nissan not only confirmed a new version of its Skyline, but also a separate resurrection of the iconic GT-R.
Despite the fact that those two models will coexist, executives of the brand’s executive team were not sure how to proceed with their GT-R being returned as an halo supercar (the Skyline is expected to offer a high sports car experience alongside its new Nissan Z).
Of the four model streams the brand discussed, the Heartbeat Model line includes the Leaf, Patrol and Z models, while Core Models include X-Trail, Qashqai and models such as the Sylphy, Roox and Note.
The examples of Growth Models include the China-based NX8 electric SUV, an N7 electric sedan and Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup truck; those also fit into the Partner Model models range with new electric Micra (a Renault-sourced small car).
Only recently has Nissan launched the X-Trail range’s midlife facelift, with a revised model lineup offering better standard equipment levels and higher value than its predecessor in Australia.
A third model of the e-Power electrified powertrain, which is used as a generator only by generating ‘drive directly to the wheels’ in the current X-Trail range in Australia (although it has no plug to recharge) and does not use sparked drive on an SUV.
Those versions are sold alongside petrol models, with front- or all-wheel drive, and five or seven seats.
In the new X-Trail, Nissan seems to be investing heavily in an effort on e-Power tech (no confirmation of any non electrified powertrains being unveiled), and Australia’s most likely standards for a standard drivetrain is expected to have i-power hybrid drive with er-4orce all-wheel drive which will probably be standard in all variants too.
The new X-Trail – which is also known as the Nissan Rogue in markets such as North America makes a bolder appearance with showcasing ‘triangulated grille and lighting signature’.
For the angular and angry-looking new-generation Juke, what is it? It’s a “Europe-focused” car that will never be sold outside those borders any time soon.
The previous Juke has already been discontinued in Australia, with the UK-built model never finding success in our market.
the smallest SUV – which used to be powered by 1’s . There have been some major changes to 0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine – with an almost entirely different look than the one of those that is more like a pump up version of the new-gen Micra.
It features rounded headlights in typical Juke fashion – but the sharp lines and prominent plastics make it look like a Toyota C-HR that’s hit the gym a little too hard.
