Audi A6 allroad: High-riding wagons return confirmed in Australian filings
A new-generation Audi A6 allroad quattro wagon could come to showrooms after more than two years off the market, according to official product registration documents filed in Australia.
A new A6 allroad wagon is on the road, according to these documents – although it has not yet been unveiled globally by Audi. But Audi Australia has cautioned that the documents don’t necessarily mean a new model is locked in for launching at.
As part of our ongoing planning, Audi reviews and evaluates a number of models and variants to find opportunities for each market. An Audi Australia spokesperson said in a statement that “This process ensures our future model range is consistent with local customer requirements and market conditions.”
“As always, not every model under evaluation is intended for or progresses to market introduction.”

Audi A6 Avant
As of 1999, Audi has been re-invented the nameplate for the ‘allroad’ on a more rugged version of the A6 with an increasingly tougher look featuring plastic cladding; the now-defunct A4 also received the allroad treatment.
The A6 allroad could be the first member of the new, sixth-generation A6 family – revealed in 2025 – bound for local showrooms. As recently as late last year, Audi Australia said the new A6 was still “under evaluation”.
Last iteration of the A6 allroad, which was re-released here in 2024, powered by a 183kW/600Nm 3 and sold here as an original. This is an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive 0-litre turbo-diesel V6 with an 8-Speed automatic, which cost $126,484 before on-road costs.

According to the filings, the new model will be available with two powertrains (with its carryover 3). A new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain was introduced using 0-litre V6 with a 2pcm. of the original plug in line (PV) motor. In Europe, the A6 e-hybrid quattro sold in Europe was used as an electric motor and four-cylinder engine with 0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engines (as well as its own version of the European equivalent QuatTrO).
A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is used by all sixth-generation A6s. In Europe, A6 PHEVs provide total system outputs up to 270kW and 500Nm of torque; the turbo-diesel V6 now generates 220kW of power and 580NM of Torquer.
Further details for the new A6 allroad are yet to be confirmed.
In Europe, Audi has also launched the electric A6 e-tron Sportback and Avant (which are powered by PPE), instead of PPC for the A6, with different styling options. The A6 e-tron was also being considered for local showrooms, according to Audi Australia in the past.

“We do A6 e-tron in Sportback and Avant overseas. We’re evaluating that at the moment, but there always has to be a market there – in the Australian market, large vehicles in passenger [cars] is a declining segment,” Audi’s local product lead, Matthew Dale, told childcareman.xyz late last year.
I always look at how to refine the model lineup based on dealer [and] customer feedback, ‘is there a market?’ The part of our role in Audi is to constantly evaluate the market opportunities and environment around us. Paraphrast.
Will Audi replace the smaller A4 allroad, which will likely wear the A5 all Road nameplate (as it is unclear whether to be able to say so).
German automaker has revived its previous electric vehicle (EV) ambitions, including selling only EVs by 2033 in all countries (apart from China).
Speaking to childcareman.xyz in March, Audi sales boss and board member Marco Schubert said hybrids will be the brand’s focus Down Under.

Audi A6 allroad – previous generation
Mr Schubert said ‘We believe in particular, like in Europe, and also other markets such as here in Australia, electrification is the way to go.
It is not just on performance measures, but also on the CO2 level so that we are able to do it as well as with this particular context of . And that’s really the most important thing to us for a market like Australia, which is also moving towards zero-emission vehicles. Paraphrasingr ’It is.
A new generation was introduced in showrooms in both SUV and Sportback body styles with petrol engines, while the Q3 small SUV was Audi Australia’s best-selling model of 2025 (the newest version is now available for sale) but has hybrids possibly on the way.
