Hoons in Ford Falcons busted for wild New Years Eve bridge takeover

The slammed incident on New Year’s Eve has seen the fleet of cars drive recklessly and blocked a busy bridge to let off fireworks, with police in Queensland charging six people and taking 13 Ford Falcons.

A video shot in the footage taken on Brisbane’s Gateway Bridge on New Year’S Eve just minutes before midnight showed Falcons driven by masked men blocking northbound lanes and performing burnouts, while some of the residents also saw firing off fireworks.

By the time police arrived on the scene, the alleged offenders had fled.

Nevertheless, the Queensland Police Service launched Operation Yankee Reacher under the direction of Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch (Burning) and today announced a series of arrests following search warrants across the wider Brisbane and Gold Coast area including Caboolture and Logan Village.

None of the offences listed appear to relate to the use of fireworks.

The New Year’s Eve incident wasn’t the first time hoons have done a street takeover on the Gateway Bridge.
