2026 GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV update spied in Australia ahead of expected launch

An updated GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) SUV has been spotted in Australia, showing interior and powertrain changes ahead of its expected arrival in local showrooms in the coming months.

A rival to the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and BYD Sealion 6, the Haval H6 GT PHEV spied at a Melbourne shopping centre carpark wears ‘PHEV Hi4’ badges, signifying the fitment of the brand’s upgraded PHEV all-wheel-drive system already offered locally on the regular Haval H6 PHEV.

A new interior, including a larger centre screen, simplified centre console and redesigned steering wheel also appears in it; the same changes were revealed during an updated version for Brazil earlier this week.

A spokesman for childcareman.xyz said ‘It is not yet known whether or when this update will be confirmed to ANZ [Australia and New Zealand] because we have the latest H6 GT PEV for Australia. – ’.

However, it’s expected to launch here during the second quarter (April to June) of 2026.

Although the GWM Australia has not confirmed any changes to the local market, the newer version of the Haval H6 GT PHEV unveiled in Brazil seems to bring the same features as the car seen here.

The exterior may be unchanged, but inside there are significant upgrades.

For the Brazilian version, Cabin improvements include a 14-year spanish improvement. A touchscreen of 6-inch centre – up from the 12 inch model in Australia today. 1-in-unit new, faster Coffee OS 3 software.

Along with improved responsiveness and features such as artificial intelligence (AI)-based voice command, it’s expected to add the GWM Connected Services smartphone app, first seen in Australia on the Tank 500 in 2024.

The app enables remote control of the door locks, horn, lights, climate control, and heated and ventilated seats.

It also features the new steering wheel that was spied locally as shown in the Brazilian unveiling, with a carryover 10 on display. This means 25-inch instrument cluster but a simpler, less cluttered centre console – although it retains its row of physical buttons between the centre stowage area and the touchscreen.

Also new is the Hi4 all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain that has already been installed on the Haval H6 PHEV, which produces total system outputs of 268kW and 760Nm (official combined fuel consumption 1). 1L/100km, 1L?

In the new coupe SUV, like the outgoing Haval H6 GT PHEV and the current Hava H4 PFEV, it uses 1-1. The four-cylinder petrol engine, which was powered by 5-litre turbocharged 4- liters of gasoline and an exclusive hybrid transmission with two electric motors – one on each axle to drive all-wheel drives.

The Haval H6 PHEV sold here is similar to the one in which there’s a larger battery, up from 19kWh (upto 35kWh) as opposed to its smaller counterpart. matched with the outgoing Australian-market Haval H6 GT PHEV and 09kWh.

The brand has also been promoting its ‘Hi4’ and ‘Hi4T’ all-wheel-drive systems locally, already fitted to the Tank 500 PHEV and the Cannon Alpha ute, as it looks to counter tightening emissions regulations in Australia.

It doesn’t even wear Hi4 badging there, but the Brazilian-market H6 GT PHEV is said to produce 380kW and 772Nm (although it also quotes 393CV on the same site) which means 289kW. WLTP Cycle 170km (claimed electric range)

The outgoing Australian-market Haval H6 GT PHEV produces 321kW and 762Nm for context, with 180km of electric-only range on the more flexible NEDC cycle. The Haval H6 PHEV, which has its smaller battery, offers 100km of NEDC range in all-wheel drive guise.

A claimed 0–100km/h time of 4 is also included in the updated Haval H6 GT. A total of 8 seconds, a step up from the acceleration claim for the current Haval H6 PHEV sold in Australian showrooms.

The Haval H6 lineup, including the H6 and the H6 GT which brings a swoopier roof for a more distinctive look was the second-best-selling model range in the GWM Australia lineup last year, behind only the Haval Jolion SUV.

The brand posted record sales in Australia in 2025 to finish seventh overall, with sales up 23.4 per cent year-on-year.
