Denza Z9 GT: BYD’s Porsche Taycan rival gets even more powerful
The Denza Z9 GT, China’s answer to the Porsche Taycan, has received a power bump in electric guise and more range as a plug-in hybrid.
A shadowy image of the Z9 GT appears on the Denza Australia website’s Coming Soon section with D9 people mover while it hasn’t been officially confirmed for Australia.
In China, the shapely shooting brake is offered with both plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains, and CarNewsChina reports both have been upgraded.
The tri-motor electric version now produces 850kW of power – up 140kW on the pre-update model. At the front, it has one 230kW electric motor and two 310kW units at the rear.

There’s also a rear-wheel drive version with 370kW of power.
Battery specifications haven’t been detailed yet, but the outgoing model has a 100.1kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit.
In the plug-in hybrid version, there is still a 152kW turbocharged 2 that runs on an engine of 155kW. The four-cylinder petrol engine is 0-litre and has a 200kW electric motor up front, dual 220kW (640kW) electric engines at the rear for total system output of 640kWh.
Nevertheless, this powertrain now has a larger 63. Up to 38kWh battery pack, 8kWh. Increasing electric range under the morelenient CLTC cycle from 201km to 400km and 5kWh, which is used by .

Denza has also released official imagery of the updated Z9 GT’s exterior in its newly available Fjord Green finish.
The LiDAR unit has also been moved, and there is a new blue indicator light to signal the semi-autonomous driving system is operating.
The Z9 GT measures 5195mm long, 1990mm wide and 1490mm tall on a 3125mm wheelbase.
That’s why it is 221mm longer than the Taycan Cross Turismo – all in the wheelbase – 23mm wider and 78mm lower.

The pre-update model was accompanied by high-end gear such as air suspension, Nappa leather upholstery, a 26-speaker sound system and even ‘two onboard fridges’ depending on the variant of the current Z9 GT while full specifications for the new one have yet to be announced.
Should the Z9 GT be confirmed for Australia, it’s unclear how it’ll be priced.
Denza’s most expensive model is the large plug-in hybrid B8 off-road SUV, which tops out at $97,990 before on-road costs.
The smaller B5, the B8 is derived from BYD’s Fangchengbao brand, like Denza’. Similarly the Z9 GT is a pure Denza, in contrast to its original counterpart, the J9GT.
