The updated 2027 Cupra Tavascan has been detailed for the world, ahead of production commencing “in the coming weeks”.
The changes are a new entry-level variant of the Spanish brand’s electric SUV; updated digital displays and software; physical buttons on the steering wheel; and redesigned paint option.
A new 140kW ‘Tavascan’ entry model will launch a smaller 58kWh battery-equipped version of the updated 2027 Tavascan, which is expected to be on sale in Europe later this year, said it delivered around 435km of driving range. It will sit below the existing 77kWh Endurance and VZ versions.
With the base grade’s 140kW rear-mounted electric motor “the confidence, a sense of driving experience and maintaining the Tavascan’s driverfocused character and progressive spirit,” Cupra says while on power compared to the range currently available.

More substantial design changes have been made in the cabin, with the updated Tavascan receiving a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster first seen in the updated Born, running a new look to the interface that appears inspired by the Tindaya concept.
The central infotainment touchscreen is also running the Volkswagen Group’s latest Android-powered software.
As with the updated Born, the new user interface for the touchscreen offers access to new apps and smartphone-like functionality courtesy of the Google-based operating system. There are also new electric air vents, which pre-circulate air and adjusts its direction “based on occupants and sun position” before the driver enters the cabin.
Since the touch-capacitive buttons of the steering wheel have been removed, it has now received physical buttons for its steering wheels. One of the new Mobile Device Key offers up to four digital keys that can be shared via compatible smartphones, in addition to one reserved for the primary user.
The Tavascan also has vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability added by Cupra, which allows the car to double up as a rolling energy bank to power external devices “like laptops, ebikes or fullpowered sound systems” via an adapter.

Launch Control only provides Endurance and VZ models with the larger 77kWh battery, while all models now have a proper ‘One-Pedal’ driving mode.
According to Cupra in its media release, “This function is a more efficient deceleration system, an easier energy recovery and ‘an intuitive driving experience’ especially for urban environments and stopandgo traffic that allows the vehicle to complete stop without using the brake pedal.”
A further upgrade, which also includes the 12-speaker Sennheiser-branded premium audio system, and combines new Sennerheizer Contrabass tech – “which uses psychoacoustic techniques to deliver deep, punchy lowend frequencies”.
“The result is a rich, enveloping soundscape that fills the cabin with exceptional clarity and depth,” the company says.
Lastly, Cupra’s signature Dark Void metallic purple exterior paint is added to the Tavascan’t palette; it has been filtered out across other model lines within the brand’S stable.

While Cupra’s range is largely imported from several European countries such as Spain, Czechia and Hungary, the Tavascan comes from the VW Group’s Anhui facility in China where it was built alongside the near-identical Volkswagen ID. Originally sold exclusively in the Chinese market, UNYX sells only UNNYX.

In 2025 the Tavascan was Spain’s runner-up second best seller in the local lineup with 339 registration for the calendar year like the Leon small car. far cupra’s top-selling Formentor crossover in Australia, whose 1490 units were registered in 2025.
The spokesman for the brand’s sales leader is being given its mid-life facelift, likely at the beginning of the second quarter (April-June), which comes 12 months after the new model was sold in European and UK markets.
