Kia Australia has quietly revealed pricing and initial details for the all-new EV4 Sedan over the weekend, with the Korean Tesla Model 3-fighter to kick off from a sharp $49,990 plus on-road costs.
A trio of variants will be available from launch – Air, Earth and GT-Line with Standard Range and Long Range batteries also provided depending on the trim level.
From its 58km of WLTP-certified driving range, the EV4 Standard Range offers an estimated 456km. A large 81-litre battery pack (3kWh lithium-ion) and the Long Range range up to 612km, for example, is 3kWh. pack of 4kWh, .

In a 350kW fast charger, the nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries can be charged from 10-80 per cent to 29-31 minutes; or 55-79 minutes respectively on ’50KW DC charging’.
Standard Range is charged from 10 to 100 per cent in 5 hours 20 minutes using an 11kW AC charger and 7 hours 15 minutes for the Long Range. Similarly efficiency, which is 14 per cent rated at the time. Standard Range 3kWh/100km, and 14kWh. For the Long Range, 9kWh/100km are a phraser.
Compared to key rivals, the EV4 Air Standard Range is about 60km off the Tesla Model 3 RWD for range, and about 1.0 second slower to 100km/h – though it’s also $5000 more affordable. The BYD Seal Dynamic, meanwhile, is more or less lineball with the EV4 in performance and range specs, but is $3000 cheaper than its Korean rival.
Every version of an EV4 has the Integrated Panoramic Display – with dual 12 in its variants. Instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen 3-inch displays, as well as a 5 inch display (i.e 3 inches) 0-inch digital climate panel – plus Kia Connect services with over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an interior vehicle-to-load (V2L) outlet; Kian’s semi-autonomous Highway Driving Assist 2 system with Lane Change Assumption assassin.
Its 17-inch alloy wheels are upgraded to 19- inch units on the Earth and GT-Line, with the flagship adding niceties such as Intelligent Front Lighting System (or adaptive LED headlights and high-beam), Premium Relaxation Seats with full recline, a sunroof ventilated front seats; Kia’s Blind Spot View Monitor and Remote Smart Park Assist.

The EV4 Sedan range in Australia almost mirrors that of the smaller EV3 crossover, though it doesn’t offer an Air Long Range like its smaller stablemate.
Regardless, the EV4 is more aerodynamic sedan body style and costs $1300 over the equivalent ev3, but offers greater range.
The European market has an EV4 Hatch, but while the eve4 Sedan is produced in South Korea for Australia, the brand’s Slovakian factory built the “EV4, HatCH” Hatcher.
While not entirely ruled out for an Australian launch, the higher cost of manufacturing and freight, as well as unfavourable exchange rates, remain factors in establishing a local business case for the EV4 Hatch. That also affects the upcoming GT performance flagship recently revealed at the Brussels motor show.
The 4730mm-long and 1860mm-wide EV4 Sedan is roughly the same size as the K4 Sedan, which is currently offered exclusively with combustion power. It’s also 10mm longer than a Tesla Model 3, while being 73mm narrower on a 55mm shorter wheelbase.
