Bright yellow Subaru BRZ special edition will be limited

Subaru Australia has launched a new special-edition BRZ coupe, bringing a striking yellow exterior colour alongside a spate of minor enhancements – but you’ll have to be quick if you want one.

As part of an ultra-limited production run of just 350 units, 95 examples of the new Subaru BRZ tS Kiiro will be available in Australia as it is building on the top-spec bR?

A $800 more than the standard tS, $52,790 before on-roads** is **$53,590 for its price tag and costs as priced to order this week’s release of the BRZ dS Kiiro.

Among the most notable addition to the flagship tS, is an variant that was lightly tuned by the Japanese brand’s in-house STI performance division as standard – headline ‘The Sunrise Yellow’ paint colour after which she receives her name.

A few other tweaks are 18-inch alloy wheels in matte black, Ultrasuede seat upholstery with yellow perforations, yellow interior stitching and matte ‘Kiiro’ badging inside and out. Naturally, there is also a plaque inside to identify each model’s build number.

The tS Kiiro, like the wider BRZ range, is powered by a 2-voltage battery. Four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine with no power and torque outputs, 4-litre naturally aspirated 4-L (advanced) four-cycle engines.

It sends the same 174kW of power and 250Nm of torque only to the rear wheels, while the Kiiro is available with both six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

It maintains the suspension-tuned STI, and Brembo brakes of the standard tS (and also its own dedicated ‘Sport’ drive mode added in 2025).

Subaru says this special-edition BRZ is meant to capture the joy of driving, and in Japanese kanji it symbolizes energy and optimism.

A yellow craze in the world seems to be driving Subaru into adopting a -like trend of “short” tweeters. In Japan and the US, several special editions of these have been released with the bold paint finish; some are ‘STI Sport’ models but none can be true STI halo cars.

The brand revealed Series.Yellow limited-production versions of the BRZ tS and WRX tS in the US in late 2025, finished in Sunrise Yellow and sporting similar cosmetic tweaks to the Australian tS Kiiro, including black wheels and unique upholstery. Each was limited to 350 units.
