While the Renault Twingo was first released in the early 1990s as a cultural icon, it became fast one of the French people like the Citroen 2CV did several generations before that.

The Twingo did what all cars seem to do over the following generations it was bigger and more expensive. The all-new Renault Twingo is now available and it’s very much harks back to its original, unashamedly retro look (although this has been the first time full electric powertrain for an entire generation) and in Europe at least so cheap.
But the most of its compact size is a slim 27-inch twingo, which uses an equally small . The vehicle tips the scales at 1200kg (by EV standards, is practically bantamweight) and 5kWh LFP battery and its 82hp (60kW) electric motor may not be racing.
We drove the car at its international launch in Ibiza, Spain, to get a flavour for what new Renault Twingo is like and to see if it punches above its weight.
How much does the Renault Twingo cost?
With no firm plans to bring the Twingo to Australia, it would be pure speculation to discuss pricing. In Europe, Renault is targeting a sub-€20,000 price, putting it in the same ballpark as the Hyundai Inster, which in Australia has a relatively high drive-away price of $43,342 (with a Sydney postcode).

What is the Renault Twingo like on the inside?
The Twingo’s cabin has a large round hazard warning light switch on the dashboard, and parts of the cabin nod to the original. This is actually what the designers had to fight for, as it was meant to be a type of button that works in all Renault’s models but at the end designer went their way.

On the passenger side of the dashboard, a body-coloured panel on higher trim levels is stamped into it with the Twingo logo (the twingo) and oblong air vents that are adjusted by nifty plus-shaped symbols. This phrase, a long-standing oblong motif is the theme of that car’s design.
If the Twingo gets a little bigger-car tech, including ‘7″ from Renault’s parts bin (borrowing it), then Borrower is part of that larger- car tech. 0-inch digital instrument display and 10 inches of 10-inch electronic instrument displays. 1-inch multimedia touchscreen with Google baked in Android-based infotainment system. Android and Apple smartphone mirroring are also available as well as more apps from the Google Play Store, which allows for downloading of additional apps; while Android & Apple smartphones can be used to mirror their phones.
Heated seat adjustments are done via the touchscreen, but we like that there are proper rotary controllers for the air-conditioning.
If a built with an aggressive price in mind, there is lots of black plastic inside but in most cases Renault has used some sort of texturing to make it look and feel slightly less basic.

There are the same colour-coded inserts as the dashboard in the doors and a small storage area on the floor with ‘cupholder holders,’ between the front seats is. The inserts are also available for this, and Renault’s designers have also borrowed the YouClip mounting system from Dacia which allows owners to attach various accessories onto pre-mounted square tabs dotted throughout the interior.
It’s not likely that many drivers will be spending long hours behind the wheel, but it’ll be unlikely if they are going to have been driving for so much time because of Twingo’. Nevertheless, we believe Renault has done something wrong by not offering more vibrant upholstery options like the ones in the Twingo from the 1990s.
But the Twingo is only a four-seater, and both of the rear seats can slide independently so it’s surprising enough room in the back as there is no doubt that this space is very good.
It is also a way of saying that boot capacity can range from 360 litres at its largest, down to 260L and with both rear seats folded there’s about 1000L of total cargo volume. It can also be folded flat, so the interior space is long enough for a surfboard or other long items.

What’s under the bonnet?
Renault Twingo has a single powertrain with ’60kW electric motor driving the front wheels and is powered by 27-watts of electricity, which drives the rear wheels. The battery 5kWh LFP (lithium-iron phosphate) was .

| Specifications | Renault Twingo |

| Drivetrain | Single-motor electric |
| Battery | 27.5kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) |

| Max DC charge rate | 50kW |
Renault has adapted the right fit for the Twingo’s powertrain, in case you cut your cloth accordingly. With 175Nm of torque and a low kerb weight, the 60kW motor is not overpowered in the compact car; with this well balanced performance comes nicely balanced output.
How does the Renault Twingo drive?
It’s easy for the bijou Renault to go around a city centre at low speeds; after all, this is where it’ll be most of its time.

A large raked windscreen gives great visibility and knowing how short the front and rear overhangs are makes it super-easy to slip through tight gaps and squeeze into smaller parking spaces without impacting the oblong bumper pads.
It’s just around these streets where the Twingo’t torque makes it brisk without feeling tight. Light steering paired with 9 tight. This is an elite on the typical daily urban assault course, with 87-metre turning circle.
While the 60kW power output may sound a little less than much on paper, considering its relatively low weight it seems pretty well-rated by the Renault EV. It is not particularly sensitive to inputs, and the right pedal delivers power in a smooth linear manner; it’s delivered with such precision as an ideal for .
Unlike that the Twingo can’t be hustled along; in fact, when you are driving around out of a corner or away from if it is going up to an extreme speed bump, there’s something more comfortable about this car when it just gets on with things like normal.

This is the one-pedal driving mode – which can be selected by pulling the paddles behind the steering wheel that works very well and prolongs range in lower speed environments and stop-start situations. We were in the single digits of energy consumption, and we think that more than 9kWh/100km could be achieved easily over a longer period.
Aside from town, the Twingo doesn’t hesitate to get up and beyond 80km/h, a little faster than its claimed 0-100km-h sprint time of 12 seconds suggests.
It’s a bit of road and wind noise, but nothing you’d be upset with (and the overall suspension setup and ride comfort) that is good.
This is a very long wheelbase, which certainly helps to what’s planted feel; and we liked how normal it all feels on the road. The bends are a bit of roll, but nothing that detracts from the general experience is what you get in your .
What do you get?

Aside from our incredible energy savings, the Twingo is likely to follow the Renault 5’s service schedule – once in two years or every 20km.
childcareman.xyz’s Take on the Renault Twingo
A true compact electric car, the Renault Twingo is a charming and charm-filled ministylo.’ The French model has been described as one of the most affordable cars in Europe at that point (in our opinion).

Aside from looks, it’s very practical inside, a lovely thing to drive around town or even well-being enough to attract over.
